City finalize the agreement to acquire “the next Lionel Messi” after securing the future star ahead of Barcelona and Chelsea.Manchester City has reached an agreement on their first January acquisition, Claudio Echeverri, an Argentine wonderkid signed from River Plate.

Numerous clubs, including City, have been strongly affiliated with the 18-year-old. His arrival has now been confirmed, and the Blues are rumored to have paid approximately £12.5 million for his services.

Similar to his agreement with fellow countryman Julian Alvarez, Echeverri has a contract in place with River until the conclusion of 2024.In joining City, he follows in the footsteps of Argentines Alvarez, Demichelis, Sergio Aguero, Carlos Tevez, and Pablo Zabaleta.

This concludes the concluding transfer involving chief football operations officer Omar Berrada, who is assuming the role of CEO at rivals Manchester United.

It was not implied that it would be his final transfer, as he “worked long, hard, and successfully on a challenging deal,” according to The Athletic.Following his debut, Echeverri has appeared six times for River’s first team since former City player Martin Demichelis made the introduction.

The attacking midfielder contributed an assist in a 3-1 victory in his debut.

Echeverri captains the Argentina Under-17 World Cup and is a regular contributor, having scored thirteen times.

In addition to being the third-leading scorer, he has trained with Lionel Scalini’s senior squad and was awarded metal.Echeverri becomes the latest in a long line of athletes to be compared to Messi, the eight-time Ballon d’Or winner.
