Two catastrophic injuries have befallen Arsenal since the club returned to action following the winter hiatus.
During the Gunners’ fortnight off, the squad retreated to Dubai, and it appeared that the training exercise had paid off, as Gabriel Jesus and Oleksandr Zinchenko both started the 5-0 rout of Crystal Palace.
Nonetheless, with the return of two players, two more could be sidelined; Declan Rice and Gabriel both sustained knocks during the encounter.
The MDfielder was substituted with twenty minutes remaining on the contest due to muscle tension that he had been experiencing.
Following the contest, Mikel Arteta remarked, “(Rice) was experiencing some tightness. I am unsure of which muscle it was. Nevertheless, at 3-0, it is evident that we do not wish to take any risks, given his assessment.
Rice will be evaluated further in the days to come prior to his January 30, 2024 match against Nottingham Forest.

Arteta commented following the match: “He had some discomfort; he had a tackle in the first half and was a bit struggling, so it was the right moment to take them off.”

The midfielder resumed training in Dubai subsequent to groin surgery that was completed in November.
