“An insult,” Paul Scholes slams an Arsenal star for what he routinely did last night against Forest.Last night, Arsenal defeated Nottingham Forest 2-1 to advance into a temporary second place in the Premier League standings. Although the majority of their players delivered outstanding performances, Oleksandr Zinchenko did not live up to Paul Scholes’ expectations.

Last night, the Ukraine international left-back continued his habit of entering the Arsenal midfield in possession.

However, Scholes objected to Zinchenko entering the Arsenal midfield from left back as he routinely does, and the ex-Manchester United midfielder launched an obscene tirade at the former Manchester City star on Instagram.

“A central midfield player is insulted when a fullback enters the field,” Scholes wrote on his Instagram story.

“I believe he or she ought to be instructed to return outside that night.”Former midfielder Trent Alexander-Arnold, Zinchenko, and others have been observed playing full-back positions frequently while moving into the middle of the park; he is undoubtedly not a fan of this manner of play.

However, Scholes is oblivious to the fact that football has evolved in recent years, with the majority of Premier League clubs and some European clubs now favoring the use of full-backs further forward.

At the international level, the Arsenal icon plays in the midfield, whereas Liverpool have been predominantly using their right-back in the midfield recently.

Zinchenko demonstrated why he has been shifting his position further forward by providing the assist that propelled Arsenal to the lead at the City Ground club last night.

It was merely the 27-year-old’s third participation in a Premier League goal this season, but he poses an ever-present threat from the offensive. Scholes will need to quickly acclimate himself to such sights, as they are unlikely to cease occurring in the near future.
