Arteta has reportedly confirmed that Arsenal has completed the transfer of a 20-year-old sensational midfielder, who has already inked a contract with the club

through 2027.SportBild (via SportWitness) reports that Arsenal is among the clubs vying for the signature of Xavi Simons, a winger for Paris Saint-Germain, in the summer of 2021, should RB Leipzig be unable to prolong his loan agreement.Simons, who was represented by HBAgency, returned to Paris Saint-Germain from PSV Eindhoven last summer after the latter exercised a contractual buy-back option. Although several Premier League clubs expressed interest in him, the French champions ultimately opted to loan him to Leipzig for the 2023/24 season.

Rapidly adjusting to German football, the 20-year-old has contributed to nine assists and six goals in 26 appearances for Leipzig. According to SportBild, Leipzig’s dire financial situation prevents them from purchasing Simons, and the club is likely to suggest an extension on the loan.

Nevertheless, Paris Saint-Germain have yet to reach a conclusion on the matter, and Arsenal is reportedly among the many clubs vying for the Dutchman’s services. In addition to Arsenal, top talent can be found at Barcelona, Bayern Munich, and Inter Milan.

Under manager Mikel Arteta, Gabriel Martinelli and Bukayo Saka are the current starting left and right wingers for Arsenal, respectively. However, the club requires additional competition in those positions. While filling in for Martinelli during his injury, Leandro Trossard had a strong start to the season; however, he has struggled for consistency in recent months.

Conversely, Saka has been absent from the field for the past few weeks, and he has not been supported by a competent substitute. Particularly, the Gunners need to improve their attacking depth on the right flank; therefore, Simons, who is only 20 years old and has ample room for growth in the coming years, would be an ideal acquisition.

The Dutchman is valued at £60 million by Transfermarkt, and if Arsenal wish to acquire him over clubs such as Bayern, Barcelona, and AC Milan, they should expect to pay a comparable quantity the following summer. It might be a worthwhile investment, given Simons’s adaptability throughout his youth, when he frequently changed institutions.
