JUST IN: Manchester United’s sport director is NOT regaining his momentum following the sale of Anthony Sancho, as the club moves closer TODAY to finalizing another transfer deal with EPL powers for a

ridiculous superstar superior to Marcus Rashford.Oh, to be Rasmus Hojlund, the misfiring striker for Manchester United at the moment.Given that he led Erik ten Hag’s attack at the tender age of 20 and scored a mere nine league goals for Atalanta in the previous season, it is reasonable to say that the £72 summer acquisition has yet to establish himself at Old Trafford.Harry Kane, the preferred target of Ten Hag, is currently exploding with goals in Germany (he has already scored 22 goals in the Bundesliga this season). In contrast, Hojlund has managed to score just one goal in the Premier League.Although there were indications of promise on the European stage, as the teenager scored five goals during the Red Devils’ lackluster Champions League run, his true worth will be determined domestically, as he also struggled in the recent FA Cup triumph over Wigan Athletic.Hojlund, in particular, could have made the League One club’s 2-0 victory more comfortable with his shooting boots on. From close range, he missed the crossbar with a header and put forth an agonizingly wide attempt with the goal at his mercy.

Having lost the typically dependable Anthony Martial to illness, the Old Trafford club must now be cognizant of the necessity of acquiring a new striker, either this month or in the summer, if it were not already apparent from that performance. The most recent on Manchester United’s pursuit of a striker

The Athletic reported last week that United are once more in search of a low-priced, short-term solution during the winter transfer window, following desperate late deals for Wout Weghorst and Odion Ighalo in previous seasons.

Ten Hag and company reportedly contemplated Serhou Guirassy, Eric-Maxim Choupo-Mouting, and Thomas Muller, and had even considered making contact regarding a transfer for Timo Werner prior to the German’s recent loan move to Tottenham Hotspur.

In reality, supporters would not have been salivating over any of those alternatives, as Choupo-Mouting and Muller are both well into their 30s. Furthermore, there are concerns that Guirassy may be experiencing a peculiar season, as reported by The Athletic. However, Joshua Zirkzee may generate even more interest, as recent reports from Italy suggest that the Old Trafford faithful are monitoring the Dutchman despite his outstanding form for Bologna.

According to CIES Football Observatory, the 22-year-old is valued at approximately €20 million (£17 million). His current contract includes a release clause of €40 million (£34 million), but additional reports suggest that the Italian club would be seeking closer to £50 million in response to Arsenal’s interest.

Although United may have to wait until the summer to acquire the 6-foot-4 forward due to financial constraints, the delay would undoubtedly be worthwhile.

Zirkzee Joshua may develop into the next Zlatan.

Concerns may be raised about the acquisition of another striker from Serie A in the midst of Hojlund’s troubles, but all signs point to a player who possesses the ability to become a genuine superstar for United.Despite his previous lackluster performance at Bayern, where he appeared in just 17 first-team appearances, Zirkzee flourished during his loan season at Anderlecht in 2021/22. Under the tutelage of then-boss Vincent Kompany, he scored 18 goals in all competitions.

A subsequent move to Italy ensued, and while two goals in 19 league games during the previous season are not particularly noteworthy, eight goals and four assists so far in 2023/24 have captured the eye, not to mention the acclaim that has been showered upon him.
