A journalist reports that Chelsea has just completed a last-minute transfer for a £18 million striker before the transfer deadline.Chelsea may acquire a new striker prior to Thursday’s conclusion of the transfer window.

Simon Phillips, a journalist, reports that Chelsea has conducted an inquiry to borrow Callum Wilson from Newcastle United.

Phillips, however, asserts in his Substack that Newcastle is only interested in a permanent agreement.

Recently, the Evening Standard reported that Wilson could be sold by the Magpies for £18 million.

This season, Wilson has performed admirably for Newcastle, accumulating seven goals in fourteen Premier League outings. However, according to the aforementioned source, the club might be compelled to release him due to profit and sustainability regulations.Chelsea inquires about Callum Wilson.

It is not unreasonable for Chelsea to have attempted to acquire Wilson prior to the transfer deadline, and they appear to have succeeded.

For example, the Blues have no intention of acquiring Napoli’s Victor Osimhen at this time. A primary target is the 25-year-old, who is presently in attendance at the Africa Cup of Nations.According to journalist Sacha Tavolieri, Osimhen has reportedly already decided to join Chelsea. However, due to the recent signing of a new contract, the Nigerian international will not be leaving during this transfer window.

As a result, Mauricio Pochettino must now consider alternatives, and Wilson is not a terrible choice. As previously mentioned, the 31-year-old has tallied goals this season; however, he truly impressed during his previous campaign.

He scored 18 goals in 31 Premier League appearances to assist Newcastle in finishing in the top four and qualifying for the Champions League. In conclusion, we believe Wilson could serve as a viable interim solution for Chelsea prior to their acquisition of an internationally renowned center forward such as Osimhen. However, the England international’s history of injuries may cause concern among certain supporters.

However, at this juncture of the transfer window, Chelsea has limited options for alternative goal scorers.
