THE TRUTH REVEALED: John Force’s Funny Car Return is a Fabrication!

Rumor making the rounds is that Force planned to test at Bristol next week, race at Richmond later this month. NHRA Funny Car frontrunner Jack Beckman squashed a rumor Monday that had been floating throughout New England Dragway this past weekend that legendary drag racer John Force would make a comeback at Virginia Motorsports Park, where he crashed last June 23.

The 76-year-old Force has been recovering from a traumatic brain injury diagnosis following that high-speed accident and has been a fixture on the NHRA sidelines since the fall Las Vegas race of 2024. The latest gossip was that Force would test the day after this weekend’s event at Bristol, Tenn., and compete at the June 21-22 Dinwiddie, Va., event. “Definitely not true.

Not sure where that started,” Beckman said. “I have not heard anything like this until just now. It would surprise me, honestly,” Virginia Motorsports Park Vice President Tyler Crossnoe said.
