Arkansas’s Wehiwa Aloy has been nominated as one of the finalists for the Dick Howser Trophy in 2025.

The Dick Howser Trophy is often called the Heisman Trophy of college baseball. It is named after the former Florida State All-America shortstop, big league player, and manager who died of brain cancer in 1987. The trophy is given based on success on the field, leadership, moral character, and bravery.

The Razorbacks’ star shortstop, Aloy, is one of four candidates for this year’s award. The other three are UCLA’s Roch Cholowsky, Tennessee’s Liam Doyle, and Florida State’s Alex Lodise. The 38th Dick Howser Trophy will be given out at a press conference for the whole country on Friday, June 13, at 10 a.m. at Omaha, Nebraska’s Charles Schwab Field.

This season, Aloy, the 2025 SEC Player of the Year, has hit 20 home runs, which is tied for fourth most in school history, and driven in 64 runs. He has hit.355/.440/.686 through 59 games, which is the best on his team. As of now, the junior has started all 86 games and is on track to have one of the best offensive seasons in the program’s history. He leads the team in hits (86), runs scored (77), doubles (18), home runs (20), extra-base hits (39), and total bases (166). His batting average is.355, his slugging percentage is.686, and his on-base plus slugging is 1.126.

This season, Aloy has been a defensive star, making only five mistakes in 205 tries (.976 fielding percentage) and helping to turn 28 double plays. He was nominated for both the Golden Spikes Award and the Brooks Wallace Award. The native of Wailuku, Hawaii, is the second Razorback to make it to the trophy finals in as many years. The first was pitcher Hagen Smith in 2024.

After shortstop Andrew Benintendi (2015) and pitcher Kevin Kopps (2021), Aloy would be the third Razorback in school history to win the Dick Howser Trophy. Along with Texas (4), Clemson (3), Florida (2), Florida State (2), Georgia Tech (2), and LSU (2), Arkansas is one of only seven schools to have had more than one winner of the Dick Howser Trophy.
