“Giving back never looked so good! This Tide playmaker is trading the cleats for coaching, pouring into his community. True leadership! 🏈”

Jaylen Mbakwe, a sophomore football player for Alabama, is giving back to his community. The rising wide receiver for the Crimson Tide will hold his second annual free youth football camp in Birmingham, Alabama, on Saturday, June 28.

Registration will start at 11:00 a.m., and the event will be held at Counterpoint Youth Ballpark from 12:00 to 2:30 p.m. In addition to providing free haircuts, the camp, which is open to kids ages 5 to 13, offers community support and athletic development in an enjoyable, family-friendly setting.

Mbakwe, a native of Birmingham, excelled at Clay-Chalkville High School, where in his final year he demonstrated his flexibility by playing quarterback, running back, wide receiver, and cornerback. He established himself as one of the best prospects in the 2024 class by leading Clay-Chalkville to a state title with his spectacular play and leadership.
One of the country’s finest cornerback prospects, Mbakwe came to Tuscaloosa as an early enrollee in 2024. He made several special teams appearances and a few defensive outings during his first campaign, recording five tackles and one interception.

However, Mbakwe made news by switching from defense to offense and making his wide receiving debut in the run-up to Alabama vs. Michigan in the ReliaQuest Bowl.

He has been working hard to improve his collegiate wide receiver skills and is now fully embracing the switch as he enters his sophomore season.

Mbakwe’s ongoing endeavors both on and off the field, particularly in organizing camps like this one, demonstrate his strong ties to his community and his dedication to inspiring the players of the future.
