
The Athens Banner-Herald said Tuesday that Florida and Georgia will split $7.5 million for hosting their 2026 rivalry game at Mercedes-Benz Stadium in Atlanta.
According to information the newspaper got through an open records request, the funding is being provided by AMB Sports & Entertainment, a business owned by Arthur Blank, the chairman and owner of the Atlanta Falcons.
Informally referred to as “The World’s Largest Outdoor Cocktail Party,” the Gators vs. Bulldogs game has been held in Jacksonville, Florida, every year since 1933.
This season, Florida and Georgia will play at Jacksonville’s EverBank Stadium, but the NFL’s Jaguars’ home field is slated to undergo a $1.4 billion reconstruction project.
The Bulldogs and Gators of the SEC will play each other in 2027 at Raymond James Stadium in Tampa and then in Jacksonville in 2028 (with a contract through 2031).
According to the Banner-Herald, the City of Jacksonville promises each school at least $10 million in 2028 and 2029 and $10.5 million in 2030 and 2031.
