Crimson Tide Warrior: The Alabama Sports Hall of Fame includes great personality like Wallace Wade

Wallace Wade played football for Brown University and was in the 1916 Rose Bowl against other teams. He started as a college coach at Vanderbilt in 1921. In 1923, he became the head coach at the University of Alabama.

During his eight years as head coach at Tuscaloosa, the Crimson Tide won four Southern Conference titles, three National titles, and three Rose Bowls, where they won two and tied one. At this time, Coach Wade brought a lot of attention to how strong Southern football was.

Wade then taught at Duke from 1931 to 1950, with a break of four years during World War II. He had a record of 171-49-10 as a football coach, and from 1951 to 1960, he was the commissioner of the Southern Conference. There is a statue of him in the National Football Hall of Fame.
