Jordan Henderson’s transfer from Al Ettifaq to Ajax has prompted Cristiano Ronaldo to assert that the Saudi Pro League must abandon negative practices.

Since the Saudi league made international prominence in 2023 subsequent to the Qatar World Cup with the acquisition of Cristiano Ronaldo, it has been engulfed in controversy.

The Portuguese captain’s transition from Manchester United to Al Nassr was fruitful, as he led the league in scoring with 54 goals for both club and country in 2023.Ronaldo initiated a pattern in Saudi Arabia, and the league set a transfer window record during the summer of 2023, acquiring several European superstars in an effort to become a global juggernaut.

Ronaldo was joined in the Saudi Pro League by Nglolo Kante, Roberto Firmino, Karim Benzema, and Neymar Jr., who notably transferred from Paris Saint-Germain.

Notwithstanding this surge in skilled individuals, operations in Saudi Arabia have not been entirely seamless, as player morale and game attendance persistently garner unfavorable attention.

Jordan Henderson, an additional notable acquisition of the summer, recently retracted his contract with Al Ettifaq, headed by Steven Gerrard, after a mere six months, in order to rejoin Ajax and return to Europe.

In addition to Henderson, former Celtic winger Jota, who was expected to leave after a month but has since remained at Al Ittihad, has also expressed regret.

Although Ronaldo has been the most vocal advocate for the Saudi Pro League, he has not veered away from pointing out the division’s deficiencies in order to prevent the current problems.During the Globe Soccer Awards, the 38-year-old spoke on current issues but emphasized the positive trajectory the league is taking.

There are numerous factors that contribute to the league’s improvement. “As previously stated, they have plenty of room for improvement,” Ronaldo stated.

“However, I believe that with the assistance of influential individuals who are willing to help alter the bad habits and football culture just a bit, we will eventually reach a point where the Saudi people will be proud.”

“There, the investment is enormous.” Why then would you not trust it? “As the world and Saudi Arabia evolve, so do circumstances; therefore, they are deserving of opportunities,” the forward continued.Recently, Romelu Lukaku, a striker for Roma, also issued a bold forecast regarding the Saudi Pro League: “In the next two years, I believe it will be one of the best leagues, if not the best, in the world.”
