One of the numerous topics the Bruins must address this offseason is whether they will pick a captain for the 2025-26 season.
After trading Brad Marchand to the Florida Panthers at the deadline, Boston went the last several weeks of the season without someone wearing the ‘C’. David Pastrnak and Charlie McAvoy wore the ‘A’ for the rest of the season, albeit McAvoy was sidelined following the NHL 4 Nations Face-Off with a serious AC joint injury.
When asked whether the team needed a captain, Sturm responded no.
“I really don’t,” Sturm replied. “If you’re a Boston Bruin, I believe it’s a significant issue. I am a coach, and I am not going to claim I will make that decision alone. I do not want to. Again, it’s the Boston Bruins, and this is a big deal. So that is something we are going to talk about. But we both need to agree that this is the correct guy.
“And we will,” he continued. “But I don’t know when.”
