Manchester City coach Pep Guardiola takes drastic step to sign two top player Lucas Paqueta and Bruno Guimaraes this transfer window summer

Pep Guardiola, the boss of Manchester City, wants to sign both Bruno Guimaraes and Lucas Paqueta this summer.

The two Brazilians have become summer transfer targets for Manchester City ahead of the 2024–25 season. Next season could be Pep Guardiola’s last as manager at the Etihad Stadium, as the 53-year-old’s current contract ends in 2025.

Following the departure of Ilkay Gundogan last summer and the uncertainty surrounding Kevin De Bruyne’s long-term future (his deal ends in 2025), Guardiola is likely to make changes to the midfield before the new season.

Following the departure of Ilkay Gundogan last summer and the uncertainty surrounding Kevin De Bruyne’s long-term future (his deal ends in 2025), Guardiola is likely to make changes to the midfield before the new season.

Mateo Kovacic and Matheus Nunes both went to east Manchester last summer. However, Declan Rice and Lucas Paqueta were two other midfielders that Manchester City wanted to sign but didn’t get.

For a record-breaking £105 million, Rice moved to Arsenal. At the same time, Paqueta’s planned £80 million move fell through after a shocking investigation by FIFA and the FA into the player.

The Brazil midfielder has been directly involved in 14 goals for the Hammers this season. He has an £85 million release option that goes into effect in the summer and could be used by Manchester City if the current investigation turns out to be false.

The 26-year-old went to the London Stadium for a club record £51 million in 2022. Guardiola is said to want to sign two Premier League midfielders this summer.

Manchester City source ‘Tolmie’s Hairdoo’ on X said that Guardiola wants the club to sign both Paqueta and Bruno Guimaraes this summer.

Newcastle United might have to sell Guimaraes because of rules about Financial Fair Play. The player has been linked with Manchester City and has received high praise from Guardiola.

It’s also possible for Guimaraes, who is 26 years old, to leave St. James’ Park this summer for £100 million.

So, it might cost Manchester City £185 million to sign them, but the club is also likely to sell more first-team players, as both Kalvin Phillips and Joao Cancelo are set to leave for good.
