Breaking News : one of Liverpool’s fringe players is contemplating leaving the club, suggesting that Jurgen Klopp may not be the sole departure.

Liverpool defender Sepp van den Berg has admitted that he hasn’t had many chances to shine at Anfield and may have to find pastures new next season.

Originally from PEC Zwolle, the Reds signed the 22-year-old center defender when he was a youngster. In the 2019–20 English Football League Cup season, Jurgen Klopp handed him his Reds debut. In addition to making an appearance in the FA Cup that season, he played three times as the squad advanced to the quarterfinals.

The under-21 international from the Netherlands has been named to the Premier League substitutes list on multiple occasions without actually making an appearance in any of those matches. On many occasions, he has been loaned out to Championship clubs Preston and Bundesliga teams Schalke and Mainz.

He has been a mainstay in the Bundesliga this year, and his goal against Augsburg was the game-winner not long ago. He admitted that his future might lie elsewhere, even if his contract with Liverpool ends in 2026.In an interview with Voetbal Nieuws, Van den Berg stated, “If I go back to Liverpool, they might want me to stay” (via The Echo). I may opt to leave if it seems like I won’t be receiving much playing time. For me, playing is absolutely crucial.Virgil van Dijk was the starting center last year, and I never imagined that I would be there. I still don’t know what my odds are going to be like next summer. In my opinion, I’m succeeding. Sure, I can play for Liverpool. Competing is something I enjoy. Nevertheless, beginning anew is distinct from that. Konate and Virgil are formidable opponents. I foresee challenges.

On Saturday, Van Dijk and Konate began at center back for Liverpool as they trounced Brentford 4-1. Despite making some middle-of-the-field starts, Joel Matip’s future remains cloudy owing to a serious injury and an expired contract.Countryman Cody Gakpo, who came on as a substitute at halftime and scored and assisted, helped propel Van den Berg’s squad to victory. “I think we have to keep the feeling what we have at the moment and just build on that,” the ex-PSV player told club reporters following the victory.

During the week, we have another important game, and during the weekend, we have yet another important game. From here on out, we should expect announcements on major games only. We require everyone’s help to keep our concentration and fitness levels high.

“Felt something” was what manager Jurgen Klopp said Darwin Nunez experienced before introducing Gakpo. The Reds will be concerned about the fitness of the Uruguayan, Curtis Jones, and Diogo Jota, who were both sidelined before halftime, as they prepare for a league encounter against Luton and the Carabao Cup final against Chelsea.
