Oxford United are pleased to confirm the permanent signing of South Korean international winger Jin Woo Jeon from reigning K-League champions Jeonbuk Hyundai, pending international clearance.
The 26-year-old arrives in exceptional form after playing a central role in Jeonbuk’s historic League and Cup double, contributing 20 goals and six assists across all competitions during the 2025 campaign.
Widely regarded as one of the most dynamic wide attackers in Asian football, Jin Woo’s performances last season earned him a place in the K-League Team of the Year, adding to his earlier accolade as Korean FA Young Player of the Year in 2018 during his spell with Suwon Samsung Bluewings.
On the international stage, Jin Woo made his senior debut for South Korea in World Cup qualifying in June 2025 and has already found the net once in two appearances.
Speaking after completing his move, Jin Woo expressed his excitement at joining the U’s, describing the opportunity to play in England as a lifelong ambition. He explained that after learning more about Oxford United, he felt an immediate connection with the Club and was convinced it was the right environment for him to make an impact.
The winger added that he aims to bring energy, intensity, and excitement to the pitch, relishing one-on-one situations and attacking play, while committing to work tirelessly to reward the trust shown in him by the Club and its supporters.
Head Coach Matt Bloomfield welcomed the signing, highlighting Jin Woo’s quality in attacking areas and his ability to influence matches. Bloomfield praised the winger’s pace, direct approach, and mentality, noting that while he may need a short period to adjust after finishing his season in December, the Club is confident he can make a strong impact both immediately and in the long term.
Head of Football Operations Ed Waldron described the deal as a major statement of ambition, crediting the recruitment team for their extensive work in securing the player. He emphasized that Jin Woo’s goals, speed, technical skill, and mentality align perfectly with the Club’s vision, adding that the signing significantly strengthens the squad and reinforces Oxford United’s commitment to success.
