Ipswich confirm arrival of Bristol City winger Mehmeti

Promotion hopefuls Ipswich Town have completed the signing of winger Anis Mehmeti from fellow Championship side Bristol City in a deal understood to be worth an initial £3m.

The London-born Albania international arrives after scoring nine goals across 31 appearances for the Robins this season.

He featured in both league meetings between the sides, including September’s 1-1 draw at Ashton Gate and Ipswich’s 2-0 home victory earlier this week.

Mehmeti was Bristol City’s leading scorer last term with 12 goals and had been offered fresh terms in October, with his previous contract set to run out this summer.

Speaking after putting pen to paper on a contract running until 2029, Mehmeti said he is fully focused on helping Ipswich realise their goal of returning to the Premier League.

The 23-year-old becomes Ipswich’s first addition of the January window, with Kieran McKenna’s side currently sitting third in the Championship after winning their last four league matches.
